Apophyllite on Chalcedony

Apophyllite is a beautiful and well-known mineral, often found in the zeolite group of minerals. India, especially the region around Pune and Maharashtra, is famous for producing some of the finest specimens of apophyllite in the world. These minerals are often found in basaltic rocks, and Indian apophyllite is typically transparent to translucent, forming clear, glassy crystals or pale green to white in color.

Apophyllite forms in well-defined prismatic or tabular crystals, often with a pyramid-like termination. While most apophyllite crystals are colorless or white, some specimens from India can have a subtle greenish hue due to trace elements. It often occurs with other zeolite minerals like stilbite, heulandite, or chalcedony, adding to the aesthetic appeal of the specimens. Apophyllite crystals have a high luster, often described as glassy or pearly, making them highly sought after by collectors.

Indian apophyllite is not only prized by mineral collectors but also appreciated in metaphysical communities, where it is believed to have healing and spiritual properties.
